Y’all are invited to this year’s Auction Shindig! The western-themed event is a little over a week away, on Saturday, March 19 at 6:00 p.m. Get ready for a good time, as this event will feature a BBQ dinner, open bar, live auction, fund-a-need, raffles and dancing! 

This event is always a great community builder. Most Saklan faculty and staff will be in attendance, and you won’t want to miss seeing Mr. Javi’s dance moves!

The Saklan School’s Annual Auction is the Parents Association’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from the auction are invested directly back into the children’s educational experiences, in and out of the classrooms.

Wine Raffle Tickets

The 2022 Instant Wine Cellar Raffle is here! This year’s wine cellar collection features 40 top-rated bottles valued at $3,000! Tickets are $100 each and are now available online at https://saklan.ejoinme.org/wineraffle. Get your tickets as soon as possible since this raffle sells out every year!

Two winning tickets will be drawn at the Auction Gala on March 19th. The first winner is the Grand Prize winner who receives the Instant Wine Cellar Collection and need not be present to win. The second winner will receive a magnum bottle and a jeroboam bottle of wine. Both prizes cannot be won by the same family.

Raffle proceeds will go to the Saklan Summer Reflection Fund, enabling our wonderful teachers to be creative and reflective in their professional development.

Wine Collection Continues

Huge thanks to all the families who’ve donated wine to our Auction Shindig Wine Raffle! Our wine collection is growing daily, but we still need help! Please consider donating a favorite bottle or two to this year’s collection.

Wine donations can be dropped off with Ms. Shay in the front office or at the Shindig table in front of the school ANY DAY.

All proceeds from this year’s Wine Raffle will support Saklan’s Summer Reflection Fund, which funds summer professional development opportunities for our beloved teachers and staff.

Social-Emotional Learning: The Saklan Way

All Saklan parents are invited to join the PA for coffee and pastries and meet Kim Parks, Saklan’s Middle School Dean and Director of Teaching and Learning. Kim will be speaking about how Responsive Classroom techniques are being utilized from Owlets through 8th grade, sharing their purpose and benefit to students.

Kim will also discuss the goals of Family Groups and Buddies and address the overarching themes that are an important part of the Saklan SEL program: the importance of relationship building; the benefits of small class sizes; clear, concise, positive teacher language; one-on-one teacher/student conferencing to deliver feedback; quick action/debriefing when an incident happens; teaching students ways to resolve conflicts and give them opportunities to try.

Love wine? We are excitedly preparing a Wine Raffle for this year’s Auction Shindig, and we would love y’alls help! Please consider donating a favorite bottle or two (rated 90 points or higher by Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate or Wine Enthusiast) to this year’s collection.

All proceeds from this year’s Wine Raffle will support Saklan’s Summer Reflection Fund, which funds summer professional development opportunities for our beloved teachers and staff.

Please bring your wine donations to the Saklan Office or drop them off at the Auction Shindig table in front of Saklan on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Seeking Swag

Saklan’s Auction Committee is fixin’ to acquire irresistible auction items for our upcoming Auction Shindig. Here are a few specific things we are looking for:

  • Vacation homes – Do you have or know someone with a vacation property, timeshare or other access to destination properties? 
  • Event Tickets – Do you have season passes for the Giants, A’s, Warriors, theatre, symphony, or live music venues?
  • Adventure Experiences – Hot Air Ballooning, Circus School, and Cooking Classes are always popular items. 
  • Wine – Do you belong to a winery and have a few extra bottles of your favorite Cab you would be willing to part with for a good cause?
  • Gift Cards – Your unused gift cards can enhance a basket of themed goods. 
  • Parent Socials – Are you willing to host a dinner or party at your house?
