1)   Middle School Art: America Today (a contemporary reflection of Thomas Hart Benton’s work by the same name)

2)   Lower School Art: An Homage to E.A. Seguy (famous butterfly artist and entomologist of the early 1900s)

The Sky’s the Limit for Science at Saklan! This year’s Fund-A-Need will provide a facelift, in Hollywood fashion, to our science room and bring more STEM into the classrooms for all of our students.

Each bidder who donates at the $10,000 level will receive one archival quality personalized, signed, and framed print of the iconic Earthrise photo taken by Saklan grandfather, Astronaut Bill Anders from his historic Apollo 8 Mission in 1968. Earthrise is included in Time’s 100 Most Influential Photographs of all time.

Join us for this informative talk with therapist and author, Dr. Erica Reischer. Erica will present highly useful parenting advice from her best selling book, “What Great Parents Do: 75 Simple Strategies for Raising Kids Who Thrive.”

Erica Reischer, Ph.D. is a psychologist, author, speaker, and parent educator. Dr. Reischer’s writing about children and families appears in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Psychology Today, The Greater Good Science Center, and The Atlantic.

Dr. Reischer earned a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in Psychology / Human Development, and is an honors graduate of Princeton University. A former consultant with McKinsey & Company, she sits on the advisory board for Happy Healthy Kids and continues to lead popular parenting classes at schools and organizations such as UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Habitot Children’s Museum, and University of California.

Species Interactions

The sixth grade, as part of their ecology unit, have been looking at species interactions. To do this, they had to portray with a partner the relationship of two organisms found in nature, take pictures of the portrayal, and then make a comic strip with them. They used their laptops to create these impressive comics! Come check out more of them in the science lab!

It’s official! The “store” is open! Send in your reply cards to the office or buy your tickets online for a glamorous night at our Auction on March 4.
